Understanding How Pyramid Scheme Works…Common Misconception About Network Marketing

There are lot of misconception about network marketing, most people think network marketing is a ponzi or pyramid scheme because of the triangle/pyramid structure of the mlm sales organization. Try to understand that the issue in pyramid scheme is not the triangle structure, if you notice all organizational structure is pyramid in shape, whether it is a government or corporate. (see image below)


A pyramid scheme is an investment scheme like mutual funds, stocks or even savings but the different is it offers a super high interest return compare to these legitimate investment firms.

This is how a Pyramid Scam works

1. A legitimate investment such as stocks or mutual funds use your invested money to fund a business. So if the business grows then the dividend of your money grows also. While in a pyramid scam you earn by getting other to invest in the investment structure.

2. In a pyramid scheme – a person recruited pays a fee that is remitted to the promoter and is promised that his income will come from subsequent series of recruits and payment fees to the promoter by others. In Network Marketing, income does not come from recruiting people but from sales of products. So the more sales you and your team generate the more income you’ll get.

Therefore in Network Marketing it’s all about SALES of PRODUCTS and SERVICES. It is no difference to other sales organization.

Ending Up Misconception In Network Marketing

To end up this post, common misconception about network marketing largely brought by people who lack of knowledge about the industry. Other are based only on bias opinion of unsuccessful distributors.

Try to understand network marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme, it is a good business model for people who doesn’t have experience and knowledge in the world of entrepreneurship. If someone tells you that you will get rich in network marketing then believe because it is true, but not overnight. This is a business you still have to work on. Skill, proper mindset and continuous education is 100 percent important in order to succeed in this industry.

Did You Know That Going to College Is Only a Waste of Money???

This blog post of mine is not intended to bash our education system but this was based on my observation and what history is telling us. I’m also a graduate student, in fact I've been a dean’s list in my college life but there are lots of irregularities that I notice in our education system. Therefore I came up to the conclusion that going to school and acquiring a good grades to get a job in only a waste of money for some reasons.


1.) Many students are taking and buying courses from universities that they are not passionate about. Therefore most of them end up having an unsatisfying job because their life are not design for it.

2.) Students are taking courses that they don’t like because their parents and some relatives told them that they should take the IN-DEMAND courses so that they can make lots of money and have a high paying job.

3.) Students are applying for any kinds of course just for the sake to have course and finish college.

4.) Getting a college degree is the key to success.

Listen to Your Passion

If you are just getting a course because someone told you that the course you are going to take will give you a high paying job then I recommend that you find a course that you are passionate about. Don’t buy to the idea of other people because you are the one who engineer and build you own life. Your parents and relatives may suggest you to take this kind of course, but always listen to your heart and mind. Know your talent, skill, and ability. Make sure that the course you are taking fits your personality otherwise you will jump into another course or another university and retake most of the subjects that will not credit by your 2nd or 3rd college you are applying. For heaven’s sake don’t waste money because this is not a good experiment.

Get a LIFE

If you are unsure of the course you are going to take then better not to apply for it. Find what you are passionate about because when you do things that you love about, you will excel in that area. Don’t just get a degree, get a LIFE!

Don’t Buy to the Idea that having a College Degree is the ONLY key to Success

Getting a college degree is the key to success? Hmmm… Well this is a totally LIE! Who told you that getting a bachelor’s degree will make you successful? Those people pretending that they are successful! In fact I know a lot of people who doesn't have college degree yet they are making a lot of money and transforming the lives of every people.

Haven’t you notice? School owners and board members are making advertising campaigns before or every enrollment month? It’s because THEY WANT YOUR MONEY! They will provide you a course and tell you that if you graduate on their school with this degree you will become successful yet they will not teach you HOW. But they will provide you lots of activities that is why a lot of people are not result oriented. They focus on too much activities that are not creating result.

The Bottom line

If you are so sure that the course you are going to take is base on your passion then GO for it otherwise you are wasting your money or your parent’s money.

Another thing. If you want to financial freedom by creating more money, and having a time freedom so that you can have more time with your love ones then don’t go to school! Become an Entrepreneur!

Well Mr. Social Media Entrepreneur – there are courses in universities that offers entrepreneurial course!

Well it will help but not much! Because the Education System are designed to make you employee not entrepreneur.

So the best way to become a successful ENTREPRENEUR is to find a mentor and do it NOW! You don’t have to finish and perfect everything before you start. That’s the good thing being an Entrepreneur will learn through your personal experience and experience of others!

So my conclusion here is that you can not rely on colleges and universities to make you successful. And going to college is only a waste of money if you are taking the course that you are not passionate about!

Why government hates pyramid scam?! It’s because they don’t make money from it. Any businesses that our government are not making profit from are considered illegal. But did you know that the greatest pyramid scam of all is our SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM (SSS)?

Network Marketing is a very lucrative business to begin with, specially for people who doesn’t have business background. A person can start a business with little-no capital through this business model and can make a massive income from it. Compare with traditional business models, in network marketing you don’t need business permits, too many paper works, and the risk is very low but the potential income is high.

The network marketing industry has created more millionaires than any other industry in the world.

But Why People Hate Network Marketing?

This topic reminds me of the first eBook that I read for the network marketing industry – The 7 Great Lies of Networking Marketing by Ann Sieg of The Renegade Network Marketing. The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing talks about the what most up-lines teach their down-lines, which are now ineffective that is why many people are failing in the industry. The 7 Great Lies claims that incorporating true marketing will drastically improve your chances of success.

Is There A True Marketing In Network Marketing?

I believe the answer relies on two variable: first is distributor / affiliates, and second training system of the company. Majority of average network marketers just rely on hearsay of people who don’t have success in network marketing. And most of the company doesn’t provide a good training system to equip their distributor to succeed in the industry.

Network Marketers Are Liars!

Well if you ask me it still depends on the distributor. Yes, I admit there are some liars, and there are some not. This is one of the reason why the network marketing industry is becoming a circus and lot of people despise the industry because of too much hype, greed, and lies. So it is very important that you trust the person who invite you to join his / her opportunity. And make sure that you separate yourself and your team from the crowds of network marketers that you think are doing unpleasant things and will only ruin the name of the industry, and your name of course.

People will love the network marketing industry if you make them love you and trust you

Network Marketing is just only an industry, the problem is the people in the industry that makes people hate the industry. People will never be loyal to product, company, and compensation plan but they will be always loyal to you. To make people love the industry is to make them love you. To make people love you is to show genuine interest to your prospects and respect what your prospect really wants.

I know a lot of network marketers thinking that the industry is the only way to make rich. Network Marketing is designed for all walks of life but not people are design for the industry. So respect what they want.

Our School Janitor Is Richer than Richie Rich. Why He Is Not Poor?

People become poor because of poor mindset.

Have you ever thought of yourself earning One Million Pesos (P 1,000,000.00)? I know most your dreamed or even thought of that. But the main problem is our subconscious.

Our subconscious may tell us:
  • We can not afford to earn that kind of amount.
  • Other might say that’s a joke, that’s impossible for an ordinary person to earn that amount.
  • I’m too poor to have that amount.

So that’s one of the biggest reason why we end up earning very little.

Remember that God created us in His own image and likeness. Since our God is an unlimited God therefore we must not limit our thinking.

It all starts in the mind and our mind is in control of our organs, heart and blood vessels and every decisions that we make. So becoming a rich, wealthy, a better person starts within.

Let’s think beyond our limit and dream once again, set our goal and make a plan how to achieve it, then work for it.

Always remember that God’s grace is upon us and the Holy Spirit will empower us to do things that seems impossible.

Time Management Strategy



I know that we as Network Marketers have a ton of things to do and time is always not enough for us. This is why I want to share and teach you today my favorite time management strategy that I use on a daily basis in my Network Marketing Business which is Setting Priorities.

Each night before you go to bed, make a list of all the things that you needed to do the following day. After you have listed them all, separate the top 3 tasks that you think the most important and the ones that will give you better productivity once you accomplish them.

Then in the morning when you wake up, make that top 3 your priority and start accomplishing them. Most of the time the top 3 on your list will be the hardest and the biggest task but keep in mind that the greater the task that you’ll accomplish, the bigger the impact to your daily activity therefore will increase your productivity and results.

A very common mistake a lot of people do is start on the much less important things because they are the ones that are much easier. Unfortunately, these easy and small tasks will eventually sums up and they'll be spending their whole day working this less important task that will eat their time away.

Here is a quick guide on deciding what task to prioritize. This step is from a book called First Things First written by Stephen Covey who is a time and organisational management guru. 


Prioritize your task according to its importance: 


1. Important and Urgent 
2. Important but not Urgent 
3. Not Important but Urgent 
4. Not Important and Not Urgent 

Always remember to focus on the important task first and not the urgent ones. Don’t fall to the concept of urgency like most people do. 

Most people will prioritize their task like this base on urgency: 


1. Important and Urgent 
2. Not Important but Urgent 
3. Important but not Urgent 
4. Not Important and Not Urgent 

Don’t prioritize things that will consume your time but do not contribute in your goals.

Why Your Product Doesn't Matter

Many distributors involved in the network marketing industry 

rave about the power of the products they are able to offer through their company. While there is certainly a measure of satisfaction in empowering people with a great product, your product really doesn't matter when it comes down to what will determine your success in network marketing. Want proof? Here's the proof! 
Are there other network marketers that offer products completely different from yours that are earning full time, even 6-7 figure incomes? Of course there are.

Are there other network marketers that offer products similar to yours that are earning full time, even 6-7 figure incomes? In many cases the answer is yes, there are.
So if people are earning huge incomes, even though they aren't marketing your product, it must be that your network marketing product really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
Now, of course, you can't go around offering junk and expect to be successful. However, you also cannot think that just because you have a good product that will guarantee your success.

Network Marketing Success = Networking and Marketing



Too many distributors in this industry put all their focus on their product. It's good to be passionate about your product.
However, if you want to build long term success in the network marketing industry, you must understand that your product is not the key determining factor for your success.
There are only two determining factors in your success in network marketing and they are your ability to network and your ability to market. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Effective Networking


In order to build a successful network marketing business, you must learn how to effectively network.
There is a very good chance that out of all of the individuals that you personally sponsor, very few of them are going to be the ones that cause your business to explode. At least not directly.
Personally sponsoring the superstar leader is extremely rare. However, even if the distributors you sponsor are not superstar leaders, that doesn't mean they don't offer value to your organization. These individuals can often LEAD you to the superstar leaders that literally build your business.
How often do you hear the following story in network marketing?
Superstar distributor (not a superstar at the time) sponsors Distributor A. Distributor A sponsors Distributor B. Distributor B sponsors Distributor C. Distributor C sponsors Distributor D.
Distributor D is a corporate executive that wants out of corporate America in the worst possible way because he's tired of never seeing his kids. He takes his network marketing business, explodes it, and all of a sudden, superstar distributor becomes Superstar Distributor.
This type of story goes on all of the time in network marketing. It happens because of the ability to network through the levels of Distributor's A, B and C.

The Marketing in Network Marketing


The second requirement for success in network marketing is to know how to market. The only way you are ever going to sponsor anyone so that you can leverage their networks is if you know how to market your business opportunity. It is the marketing of your business opportunity that gives you the ability to sponsor new distributors and network through their contacts.
The distributors that fail to sponsor and recruit consistently simply don't know how to effectively market their business opportunity. They must learn how to market if they ever want to turn these difficulties around. Otherwise they will continue to struggle in this industry.

Focus on Network + Marketing


So don't focus so much on your product that you lose focus on what really matters for success in network marketing. Work on improving your ability to network and improving your ability to market and you will go a long way in this industry

Tip 2: Be patient!
Rome wasn’t built in a day. In fact, most brick and mortar businesses consider it a huge success if they can turn a profit after a couple of years. So, what makes you think that the money will start rolling in after a few days, or even months? Building a business takes time, effort, and lots of patience.
Be prepared! When things don’t click right out of the gate, remind yourself that success is a process. Every step you take leads you closer to your goal. Everything you learn makes you more and more valuable to others, who will ultimately see you a the leader that can help them in their quest for freedom.
But until then, relax, persevere and be patient!

I tell all of my new consultants that they should focus on educating themselves for the first couple of months after starting a new business. This can be difficult for many people to hear, because they want to make money, and now! It usually doesn’t work that way.
The only way that you will make big money in network marketing (or any business) is if you over-deliver value to your customers.

If you are continuing to work while starting your business, you will need to become a time management expert. Your new business is like a newborn – it requires nurturing, attention, caring… and time.
Be sure to carve out some time every day to work on your business. Turn your car into a rolling classroom by listening to CDs or tapes while you’re driving. Buy yourself a good mp3 player and plug into some great educational material while you’re at lunch or cleaning the house.
Every second you spend on your business will help it grow that much faster.
Tip 5: Expect to get out of your comfort zone

Is Education needed to be an Entrepreneur?

Is there really an education needed to be an entrepreneur? This is a question often asked by aspiring entrepreneurs.

Well, it all depends on the individual. There are times even when those that have no educational business background are still able to make it big in the business world. Some say that they owe it all to patience, hard work, and dedication. Most of the successful entrepreneurs on the other hand claim that it would take good education to become an entrepreneur.

So what will it be? Well, if you can afford to study a business degree, then don’t let that chance pass you by. You’re quite lucky if you can attend college especially for a business degree. You have to dedicate your time studying all your lessons because in due time, you will be able to use such information to the advantage of your business.

You can choose to study in a local university or college or those individuals with more money to spend can study abroad if they want to. The important thing is to take your education seriously because you can use them when the right time comes. And while you’re studying, you have to develop all the needed skills and characteristics of being anentrepreneur.

You have to participate actively in all school activities especially those that require you to exercise your skills in business planning, controlling, directing, etc.

There are many business degrees that you can choose from like commerce, business administration, economics, and many others. Make sure that you choose a course that you like and one that you can afford so that you can finish your way to college. Remember, passing alone is not important. You have to learn every step of the way and don’t forget the things that you’ve learned.

Some entrepreneurs didn’t have the proper educational background and yet they’ve become successful in their chosen field. The fact is, there are many successful entrepreneurs without the proper business education. How many times have you heard of an entrepreneur who started from scratch and yet ended up having a high-profit earning business? Perhaps there’s more to just education.

You see, aside from education, you have to possess the right qualities and characteristics of being an entrepreneur like leadership, innovativeness, creativeness, risk taker, and many others. Even if you have the proper educational background, you can’t become a successful entrepreneur if you don’t have these qualities and characteristics.

It seems that education and the right characteristics go hand in hand in producing an effective and successful entrepreneur. If you can have them both, take advantage of it right away. Education is something that money can’t buy in an instant and besides, you can use your knowledge for the best interests of your business.

This is not to discourage those that can’t afford to earn a business degree in college. If you want, you can use the resources available on the internet and learn everything you can about being an entrepreneur. You must also develop the right attitude and characteristics as early as possible. If you can pull it off, then no one can stop you from entering the business world.

How to Quit Your Job in 120 to 365 Days – How ironic this topic was, a lot of people are looking for a job while this topic is about not having a job. Based on what I observed, a lot of people are not happy with their job because of so many reasons such as: they fall into the wrong job, their job is so stressful, hate their boss, no overtime pay, always on call… and a lot more.


If these are all the issue then why are we jumping from one JOB to another? Don’t we realize that it is still the same bread that we are getting into? We have lots of reason and excuses not to quit our job but little do we know that our job is putting us more into debt and bankrupcy. Little to no tax advantages; yet we have security but we don’t have freedom. Comfort zone is only for people who doesn’t want to improve their lives, a JOB is a comfort zone.

The only way for us to be FREE is to quite our job, and no longer in bondage by the time card nor by bandi clock. To be FREE is what are created to be.

But why are we putting our self to a JOB? It’s because this how we are trained to be by our universities and education system.

Did you know that it is our choice to be FREE, but we are not using this FREEDOM of Choice!

Step #1: Know your “WHY” that makes you cry

What is your WHY? What is your motivation? We have lots of WHY that is why we are working so hard. But how deep is this WHY is?

Let me tell you my personal life story. I was a Father and totally broke last 2009 because I invested most of my money on a business that does not give so much return. I need to feed my baby and support my family financially but the income from my business wasn’t enough.

If I apply for a job, then my job will take away too much of my time. How can I see my child grow, If I’m always in the office? I want to spend time with my child almost everyday, and I don’t want him to grow up in an environment where the parents are always busy.

So my “WHY” is my son and wife, that is why I’m doing my best to build my internet-network marketing business so that I can be financially free and can work at my own pace.

Many father have the same WHY as I did, but our difference is my WHY is to have time and generate income for my kid unlike with the other their WHY is to work hard in their job so that they can finance the needs of their kid but it sacrifice their time.

So know your “WHY” and write it in a piece of paper so that you will always remember the reason why you want to have freedom.

Your WHY is your MOTIVATION

Step #2: Know How Much Money You Need to Quit

A lot of people are saying that they will quit there job if their passive income reaches the same amount of what they are earning from their job. Others are saying when they are at 60 yrs of age which is ironic because they can no longer do what younger people can do. Some are saying they already have millions in their deposit account, but it will not happen if they are only earning a minimal amount. But even sometimes, if earning a substantial amount, still it’s not enough.

So how much do you really need? – It’s probably less than you think!

You need at least 6 months – 1 year of your savings before you quit

The Power of A Positive Dream


People are created to dream. There’s nothing wrong if wedream too big or too much. In fact when we dream, we are aligning ourselves with our Creator. Man is created to dream and to follow the dream instill for him. Someone may put you down and discourage you to follow and achieve that dream or somebody may say, “you dream too much you won’t achieve it”. All I can advise is not to allow other people to steal your dream. Get away from dream robbers!

As you know, every success stories start from a dream. Who would have thought without the Wright Brothers dreaming of a flying machine there will be no airplane today. What if Thomas Edison didn’t dream of the incandescent light bulb, the world will still be in darkness. What if Ferdinand Magellan didn’t dream of finding another route to get to the spice island, people will still think that the world is flat.

Man has a power to dream, to work on that dream and to achieve it. We are created and designed to succeed. So if people put you down on your dream just tell them, “I’m the one who makes my future not you”.

Every decision and action you take today, it will affect and manifest on your future. Therefore you must dream and believe that you can achieve it.

I Said That Quitting Is Not An Option…But I Quit


Being an entrepreneur is a life’s adventure because comfort zone is not a place for them. If you want to become an entrepreneur then be ready to face challenges. Your job description is to provide solution to every problem that you will encounter. So in other words you are a solution provider! And the good news is that’s how businesses are born.

Imagine the top business leaders today, how did they become so successful? The best answer is because they provide solution to people or to market’s problem. They created a need for the market, a need called comfort. Yes, comfort zone! Did I say that comfort zone is not for entrepreneurs? Comfort zone are what entrepreneurs are providing! It’s because comfort are what 98% of the population are looking for that is why only 3% are entrepreneur. Therefore the 98% of the world’s wealth goes to them.

Reality, most of the people wanted to become an entrepreneur but only few people made it happen and those who made it happen only few succeeded! Why? Because I tell you that entrepreneurship is a life long journey, it’s an adventure! You will only gain success if you will not quit! Quitting is not an option if you want success in this arena.

Majority of the people, when problem arise in their business or sometimes in their personal life they quit so easy and then jump from one business to another thinking that is the way to riches or success. Little they do know they just entered to another problem. You can not eliminate a problem with another problem. Same saying as you can not take out the fire with fire.

If you are facing problems in your business, consider these – success in a like a candy coated in a candy wrapper, so the wrapper is the “problem.” In every problem there is an equivalent opportunity, and in every opportunity there is an equivalent problem. And if you find a good solution to that problem then success is just one step away.

All I can say being an entrepreneur is that, quitting is not an option but I quit……. Quit being a quitter. So stop procrastinating and making excuses, you should make things happen!

My Greatest Enemy Is Now My Bestfriend!

When I was in elementary I totally hate Mathematics but when I took software engineering in college Mathematics has become my ally.

When I was in high school I really despise English because I don’t understand English grammar such as noun, pronoun, predicate and adjective. But when I ventured into internet network marketing English has become my companion.

The reason why I took up software engineering in college it’s because I hate presentation and public speaking because I’m not confident on my English grammar. And in software engineering you don’t need to do too much presentation and public speaking but I was wrong. Absolutely wrong!

I realized that in order to become successful in any industry you should know how to communicate and lead. And doing public speaking is one of the many ways of leading people, a way of communicating your ideas and your message to people.

Same as majority of people, they are afraid of doing public speaking. Honestly I was one of them. Since I entered into the world of entrepreneurism, I never thought that my greatest enemy, “Mr. Presentation and Mrs. Public Speaking” would become my greatest and best tool for success.

Moral Lesson of My Story

The mentioned above are the things that I hate most, they are my greatest fear! But eventually they became my greatest ally. The only reason why they became my best friends and my greatest ally, is because I overcome them, in other words I faced and overcome my greatest fear.

5 Poor Expectations You Made When You Join MLM, That’s Why You Quit

MLM is a great business to start with especially if you don’t have enough money to start your own business. You can start with as low as $30 (P1,500) in this business then make substantial amount of money.

However a lot of people join MLM without really knowing what they are getting into. This is probably one of the reasons why people tend quit in business after 1 -3 months.

You will make money in this industry if you know how MLM works.

In this blog post I’m going to share with you five (5) poor expectations that people have in mind when they join the business.
Poor Expectation #1 – MLM Is “Easy Money”

MLM companies and networkers are very good in promoting the business, as simple as 1-2-3 steps that anyone can do and become a millionaire in an instant.

This sales pitch is like you are saying to your prospect that they just need to sign-up then instantly they’ll become rich.

I believe this is one of the wrong mindset in the business. And this is also one of the reason why people quit after 3 – 6 months of not making any money.

Joining a network marketing doesn’t mean that you’ll be rich tomorrow or in just 3 months. You need to work on your business.

You need to do some pumping until your income kicks back.

Poor Expectation #2 – Expecting “Spill Over” From Uplines

A message to all uplines!

Don’t promise spill overs on your prospects just to make them sign-up. I heard a lot stories from burned-out marketers that their uplines didn’t give them spills that’s why they didn’t make money.

And for marketers who are expecting spill overs.

Consider spill overs has a bonus to your organization, that should be the right mindset. You must mind your own business and work on our own.

You are a leader of your organization so don’t rely everything to your upline, you will only get disappointed.

No expectations from uplines, do you job.

Poor Expectation #3 – The product is so great it will sell itself

Classic sales pitch!

If the product will truly sell itself then it does not need you, right?

In relationship marketing, most of the time people are joining not because of the product because of the trust you develop on your clients and prospects.

Do you think people will buy the product or service you offer if they don’t trust you?

In this industry, it will not matter if you are selling a breakthrough product with 100,000 clinical studies if you do not understand what network marketing is really all about

Poor Expectation #4 – Doing a Friend a Favour

No strings attached to someone!

You are joining because you are just doing a favour for an old friend?

And the end of the day, It’s not about your friend, its about your career and dreams.

Poor Expectation #5 – Thinking This Will Be a Free Business to Run

I’m not talking about the membership fee of your mlm opportunity here, because that is a given. But many people falsely believe that they can market entirely for free whether online or offline.

While it’s true that there are some effective low cost marketing techniques you can use, you should never fool yourself into believing that it will be a no cost.

Network marketing can offer an exciting new way to earn money. But your expectation shouldn’t be based on one of the misconceptions mentioned above.
